What Is Creek Rat?

Denn Tezzier, the owner of Creek Rat, named the brand after his love for time spent as a kid at the creek in Topanga Canyon and along the Southern California coastline. Historically, “Creek Rats” was what we called ourselves down at the creek.

Topanga Creek begins in the Santa Monica Mountains in Los Angeles County, California and flows down to the Pacific Ocean south of Malibu. Denn Tezzier, a Topanga Canyon Creek Rat kid and longtime local artist, had already been creating and selling commercial art since the 1960s when the Topanga Messenger approached him to create a comic strip. From that roots-level beginning, the Creek Rat brand was born.

The Creek Rat comic strip, artwork, and brand spirit still carry that original Topanga Canyon and Malibu Beach vibe to this day.

Creek Rat Today

Over the years, the Creek Rat brand has expanded into many artistic styles, contemporary mediums, modern technologies, product manufacturing, merchandising, marketing, marine, automotive, apparel, spirits, and multimedia platforms — while still keeping the original classic vibe of Topanga Canyon and Malibu Beach, California.
